Developed by the award winning Queenside Games, Choker is a masterful free to play game which mixes the brilliance of chess with the cunning of poker.
The Challenge - Growing a gaming audience
As a new game, one of the biggest challenges for Choker was growing a large enough audience to ensure that enough players were in the game at all times - therefore improving gamers enjoyment.
As a “just for fun game” the app in theory met with all gaming regulations, however Choker was also experiencing difficulty in ensuring ads were approved by major platforms. Additionally there was a very small social audience who did not engage with the brand.
The Work
The Small Biz Expert put in place a targeted three step marketing campaign running on both social media and Google. The campaign was designed to increase app installs, lower cost per install and also to build social communities around the game.
Channels chosen were Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Google advertising.
The Results
Within 3 months of initiating the advertising campaign, we had increased installations by over 500 per day, while simultaneously reducing cost per result from 51p per install to 15p per app install.
Organically we focused on the Facebook page and building a Choker community. We increased following from just under 200 followers to 10,000 followers within 6 months of implementing the strategy.
